About
Cult North Foundation
Cult North Foundation is a cultural organization from Rotterdam that creates space for young and emerging creators to develop artistically, personally, and professionally. The foundation focuses on talent development, cultural participation, encounters, and social engagement.
Cult North believes in a cultural sector where talent is not limited by background, education, network, financial means, or the neighborhood someone grows up in. That is why Cult North develops accessible programs, events, and development trajectories in which creators can discover their talent, strengthen their own voice, and grow sustainably.
Within Cult North's activities, music, spoken word, photography, videography, radio, heritage, education, and social themes come together. The organization works from the lived experience of creators and participants, connecting artistic development to identity, personal growth, entrepreneurship, and social awareness.
Mission
Cult North Foundation creates accessible and safe spaces where young and emerging creators can develop artistically, personally, and professionally.
Cult North supports creators in discovering and strengthening their talent, telling their own story, and building a sustainable position within the cultural sector. The foundation does this through talent development, cultural programs, events, guidance, collaborations, and presentation spaces.
In doing so, Cult North connects creators, youth, neighborhoods, cultural institutions, social organizations, educational institutions, and professionals. In this way, Cult North contributes to a cultural landscape in which different voices, stories, and perspectives are visible, heard, and valued.
Vision
Cult North Foundation believes that culture plays an important role in the personal and social development of people. Art and culture offer space for expression, encounters, reflection, connection, and change.
Cult North strives for a cultural sector in which young creators, regardless of their background, have access to knowledge, guidance, networks, resources, and stages. A sector in which creators are not only invited to participate but are also given ownership of their development, work, and story.
The foundation wants to contribute to a future in which talent development is sustainable, inclusive, and locally anchored. Cult North sees young creators not just as participants or executors, but as cultural leaders, storytellers, entrepreneurs, and co-shapers of the city.
By entering into long-term partnerships and connecting different sectors, Cult North builds a cultural ecosystem in which creators can develop from first acquaintance to professional cultural entrepreneurship.
Cultural Network
Cult North collaborates with cultural, social, educational, and knowledge partners within and outside Rotterdam. These collaborations are important for creating development opportunities, sharing expertise, reaching different communities, and sustainably anchoring talent development.
Collaboration partners include: House of Knowledge, Hiphophuis, Rotterdam Street Culture Week, Keti Koti Rotterdam, Muziekwerf, Sankofa Archives, Vanguard, IkbenWij, Productiehuis Flow, Quardin, SOL Rotterdam, Stichting LES, Cultuur Concreet, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Erasmus MC.
With these partners, Cult North develops programs, events, educational activities, research, presentation opportunities, and development trajectories. Every collaboration contributes to a stronger network around young creators and a more accessible cultural offering in Rotterdam.
Cult North believes in reciprocal collaboration. Partners bring together knowledge, networks, experience, and facilities, with the shared goal of sustainably supporting creators and participants.
Support
Cult North Foundation receives multi-year support for the period 2025–2028 from the Culture Plan of the Municipality of Rotterdam and the Fund for Cultural Participation.
This support makes it possible to further strengthen the organization, programs, and development trajectories, and to invest long-term in young creators, cultural participation, and collaborations in the city.
In addition, Cult North collaborates per program and project with cultural institutions, social organizations, educational institutions, funds, and other partners.
We thank our subsidizers, funds, and collaboration partners for their trust, support, and involvement.
